On Friday, August 27, 2021, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Xavier Becerra travelled to New Orleans, Louisiana, to highlight the Biden-Harris Administration's plans to Build Back Better by combatting the COVID-19 pandemic and expanding access to quality, affordable health coverage through the Affordable Care Act.
Secretary Becerra will toured a Children's hospital and met with staff to discuss coordination with the Administration's COVID-19 surge response teams. He also discuss ed his efforts at HHS to improve pediatric health.
Second, Secretary Becerra visited Dillard University to host a vaccine confidence roundtable with community members and elected officials - highlighting the Biden-Harris Administration's work with trusted messengers to encourage people to get vaccinated. Congressman Troy Carter, (LA-02) and Dawn O'Connell, Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response accompanied him.
